Wix vs WooCommerce vs Shopify: Best Platform for Print-on-Demand in India (2025 Update)

1 February 2025

The print-on-demand industry in India has grown massively over the last few years. With thousands of creators, brands, and entrepreneurs launching their own apparel lines, choosing the right e-commerce platform has become one of the most important early decisions.

If you’re planning to start your own print-on-demand or dropshipping brand, you’ve probably come across WooCommerce, Shopify, and Wix — three of the most popular platforms used globally. Each comes with its own pros, cons, and quirks. Let’s break them down so you can decide which one fits your business best.

WooCommerce:

WooCommerce is a powerful open-source plugin for WordPress that transforms any WordPress site into a fully functional online store. It’s loved by developers and entrepreneurs who value customization and control. You can design every detail — from product pages to checkout flow — exactly how you want.

That said, WooCommerce does require some technical know-how. You’ll need to manage hosting, domains, and plugins yourself. While WooCommerce itself is free, the cost of hosting, SSL, and premium add-ons can add up.

For many small to medium print-on-demand brands, though, WooCommerce strikes a great balance between flexibility and ownership.

At Merch Factory, we previously provided direct integration with WooCommerce — making it seamless for store owners to sync products and automate orders. As we’ve recently upgraded our app to a newer version, WooCommerce integration is being rebuilt and will be reintroduced soon alongside new options for Wix users.

Shopify:

Shopify is the easiest route for anyone who wants to start selling fast without touching a line of code. It’s an all-in-one e-commerce solution that includes hosting, security, payment gateways, and a huge marketplace of apps.

Shopify is incredibly user-friendly, which makes it perfect for beginners — but the trade-off is flexibility. You can customize your store’s look and feel, but deep control over the backend is limited.

It’s also worth noting that Shopify runs on a subscription model, and transaction fees can stack up depending on your plan.

Shopify integration is already in our development pipeline at Merch Factory and is expected to roll out around January 2026.

Wix:

Wix is a drag-and-drop website builder that lets anyone design a beautiful, functional website without coding. It’s perfect for small creators or first-time sellers who want a fast, low-effort start.

Its e-commerce tools are improving rapidly, and Wix now supports print-on-demand functionality through integrations and apps. However, when compared to WooCommerce or Shopify, it’s still more limited in terms of scalability and customization.

We’ll soon be launching a direct Wix integration for Merch Factory, allowing creators to connect their Wix stores, manage products, and automate fulfillment easily.

So, which platform should you choose?

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer.

  • Choose WooCommerce if you want full control and don’t mind handling the technical setup.
  • Choose Shopify if you want a ready-to-go, hassle-free store with minimal setup time.
  • Choose Wix if you’re a beginner who values simplicity and speed over deep customization.

As the print-on-demand landscape evolves in India, each of these platforms can help you build a successful online brand — it all depends on how hands-on you want to be.

At Merch Factory, we’re focused on making integrations smoother and smarter. With our upgraded platform, Wix and WooCommerce integrations are coming soon, and Shopify will follow early next year — empowering creators to run their merch businesses wherever they sell.
