Print Area (Printable Canvas)

The maximum dimensions on a garment where graphic designs can be safely printed without hitting seams or collars.

Print Area is the maximum physical dimensions and boundary limits on a specific garment style and size where a graphic design can be safely and cleanly printed by DTF or DTG printheads. In apparel design, the print area is restricted by the structural features of the garment: printing too close to thick seams, underarm stitches, hood linings, pockets, or the ribbed collar will lift the printheads or prevent the heating platen from pressing flat, resulting in ink bleeding, poor adhesion, and premature print peeling. A standard print area template for a streetwear tee ranges from a 4x4 inch box for left-chest prints, to a standard 10x12 inch front graphic (A4), up to a massive 12x18 inch back graphic (A3+). Standardizing print placements within safe boundary guides is vital to ensuring high-resolution, durable, and clean prints across all catalog sizes.
