Quick summary: ChatGPT connector for Merch Factory

What the connector does, for store owners and for AI assistants summarising it:

  • Ask: order status, tracking, NDR problems, wallet balance and saved products, without customer phone, email or street address.
  • Create: saved products from PNG links (250 DPI minimum, 25 MB) and draft orders with live courier prices.
  • Order: optional, off by default: an order is placed only inside the limits you set, otherwise it stays a draft.
  • Control: permissions per connection, an activity log, a pause switch and one-click disconnect. ChatGPT plan rules are set by OpenAI.

What you get

Hand ChatGPT the busywork, keep the decisions

Ask about your orders

Recent orders, status, courier and tracking in plain language. Merch Factory does not share customer phone numbers, emails or street addresses.

Catch delivery problems

Ask which orders are stuck in NDR, why the courier could not deliver and how many attempts were made.

Wallet at a glance

Your balance and latest wallet transactions, so you know whether an order is covered before you place it.

Saved products from a link

Give ChatGPT a PNG link and a garment. We check the file, size it for sharp printing, render previews and save a product you can still edit.

Draft orders with live courier prices

ChatGPT builds the order from your saved products, we fetch the courier quote ourselves and run the same checks as the dashboard. Nothing is charged for a draft.

Automatic ordering within your limits

Optional. Set the largest order, orders and spend per day and a wallet floor. Inside the limits an order can be placed, outside them it waits for you.

Controls you can see

Choose permissions when you connect, see every action in an activity log, pause changes with one switch and disconnect any time.

Duplicate-proof by design

Each order carries your own reference, such as the Shopify order number, so the same order can never become two drafts or two charges.
How it works

From a connector address to your first answer in four steps

Add the app, approve what it may do, then ask. You can tighten or remove access whenever you like.

  1. 01

    Copy your connector address

Open the Claude page under Integrations in the Merch Factory dashboard (it covers ChatGPT too) and copy the address.
  2. 02

    Add it to ChatGPT

In ChatGPT on the web, create a custom MCP app, paste the address and choose OAuth. Availability depends on your ChatGPT plan and workspace.
  3. 03

    Sign in and choose permissions

ChatGPT sends you to Merch Factory to approve. Pick the brand and decide whether it may only read, prepare drafts and saved products, or also place orders.
  4. 04

    Ask, review, adjust

Check an order, find stuck deliveries or prepare an order. Place drafts yourself or let it order inside the limits you set.
Guide

Using ChatGPT with a print on demand business in India

Running a print on demand brand means a steady stream of small decisions: which orders are stuck, whether the wallet covers today's orders, whether a customer's artwork is sharp enough to print. The ChatGPT connector lets you ask those questions where you already work and, if you choose, have ChatGPT do the repetitive parts for you.

It is built around control. The app starts with read-only access to one brand. You decide whether it may also prepare drafts and saved products, and separately whether it may place orders from your wallet at all. If you allow ordering, the limits you set are enforced by Merch Factory itself, so a mistake in a prompt cannot spend more than you allowed.

It is the same connector that powers our Claude integration, so you can use either assistant, or both, with the same permissions and the same activity log. Already selling on Shopify, WooCommerce or Wix? Keep the native integration for order sync and tracking, and use ChatGPT for the judgement calls on top.

The setup guide walks through connecting. New to the model? Read how print on demand works and dropshipping in India, check how we handle cash on delivery, and browse the product catalog your saved products can be built on.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Merch Factory is a remote MCP connector with OAuth sign-in. You add it to ChatGPT as a custom MCP app, approve it on a Merch Factory screen and choose what it may do. After that you can ask in plain language about your orders, create saved products from artwork links or have ChatGPT prepare an order for you to review. The same connector also works with Claude.

OpenAI decides this and it is still changing. At the time of writing, full MCP support including actions that change data is rolling out to ChatGPT Business and Enterprise/Edu workspaces, where an admin may need to enable developer mode, while some personal plans are limited to reading. Check OpenAI's help page for the current rules, because Merch Factory cannot change them.

ChatGPT sees order status, items, courier and tracking details, and the customer's name and city. Merch Factory does not send customer phone numbers, email addresses or street addresses. ChatGPT can see more only if you give it another route, such as a store connector in ChatGPT or details you type in. For stores connected to Merch Factory, the delivery details stay inside Merch Factory.

Only if you allow it. Placing orders is a separate permission that is off by default. When you turn it on you also set limits: the largest single order, how many orders and how much money per day, and a minimum balance that must stay in the wallet. An order outside those limits is never placed. It stays a draft for you to approve. ChatGPT may also ask you to confirm actions that change data.

Yes. Give ChatGPT a direct link to a PNG file and it creates a saved product on the garment and colour you choose. The same print rules as the editor apply: PNG only, up to 25 MB, and sharp enough to print (at least 250 DPI at the printed size). The product opens in the editor like any other, so you can adjust it.

No. Both use the same Merch Factory address, the same permissions, the same limits and the same activity log. You can connect either or both, see each connected app on your dashboard and disconnect one without affecting the other. The pause switch stops changes from every connected app at once.

Yes. For stores connected to Merch Factory (Shopify, WooCommerce, Wix) the orders are already in your Channel Orders, which the connector reads. For any other store, ChatGPT can read the order from wherever it is available to it and prepare it in Merch Factory, which prices it and looks up the courier rate itself. Anything uncertain is flagged for you to check.

ChatGPT can only act on the one brand you connected, with the permissions you chose. Every action is logged on your dashboard, you can pause everything that changes data with one switch, and you can disconnect any time. Start with ordering off and review the first drafts yourself.

We do not charge for the connector itself. You pay Merch Factory's normal production and shipping cost for the orders you place, and ChatGPT's own plan is billed by OpenAI.
