When Something Does Not Work with Claude and Merch Factory
Most problems come down to one of four things: Claude has an old copy of the connector, a safety rule stopped an order, a detail is missing on the order, or the artwork is not good enough to print. Find your message below.
Claude cannot see my orders or says it has no access
"I can't process your Shopify orders because I don't have access to your Shopify store." If the store is connected to Merch Factory, Claude does not need access to it: it reads your Channel Orders through the Merch Factory connector. In Claude, open Customize → Connectors, remove and add the Merch Factory connector again (this refreshes its tools), then ask: "Process my Shopify orders." Also check that the store shows as connected under Integrations in Merch Factory.
"This connection no longer has access to the brand." The person who connected is no longer a member of the brand, or the brand was removed. Reconnect with an account that belongs to the brand.
"Too many requests. Please wait a minute and try again." Claude asked too quickly. Wait a minute and repeat the request.
Claude can read but cannot create or place anything
"Changes from connected apps are paused for this brand." The pause switch is on. Open Integrations → Claude and turn off "Pause changes from connected apps". Any member of the brand can do this.
Claude can show orders but cannot make drafts. When you connected, the permission to prepare drafts was off. Disconnect on the Claude page and connect again with "Prepare drafts and saved products" ticked.
Claude prepares orders but never places them. Placing is off by default. Connect with "Place orders from your wallet" ticked and switch on automatic ordering on the Claude page. Until then every order waits for you.
An order stayed a draft
A draft is normal, not an error. Open Integrations → Claude, find the draft and read the reason. The common ones:
"Check before placing". Claude was not sure about something (a product matched by name only, an address it could read two ways, an odd phone number or total) or the order is cash on delivery. Check the details, then press Review and place.
Above your limits. The order is over your single-order limit, or would pass the orders-per-day or spend-per-day limit, or would leave the wallet below your floor. Raise the limit if you are happy with it, or place the draft yourself.
Wallet too low. Add money to the wallet, then place the draft.
"The courier price in this draft is more than a day old." Automatic placing only uses prices from the last 24 hours. Press Review and place: the checkout looks up fresh courier prices.
"The merchant agreement has not been accepted." A member of the brand has to accept the current agreement in the dashboard once.
"Address line 2 (landmark) is missing." The checkout needs a landmark. Open the draft and add it.
The draft is gone. Drafts last three days and are then removed. Ask Claude to prepare the order again.
An order could not be prepared
"The store did not give: email, phone, landmark…" Stores often hide the customer's email or phone, and many orders have no landmark. Claude still prepares the draft and marks it "Check before placing". Open it with Review and place and fill in the missing fields in the checkout, which asks for them. Only a missing street address or a pincode that is not 6 digits stops a draft, because a courier price cannot be worked out without them: fix those in the store, or place the order by hand from Channel Orders.
A line has no saved product. Lines in Channel Orders match your saved products by an MF- SKU. Claude will ask which saved product a line is. If it is not a Merch Factory item, tell Claude to skip that line.
"Size … is not available for …". The size on the order does not exist for that product. Fix the order in the store or choose another product.
"Courier … is not available for pincode …". That courier does not serve the address (or does not offer cash on delivery there). Ask Claude to show the courier options again and pick another.
"Cash on delivery needs payout details". Add your payout details under Settings → Payout, or choose prepaid.
"Was already placed on Merch Factory as …". The order is already placed. Merch Factory never places the same store order twice, which is working as intended.
"Out of date" or "print area changed". The design was saved before the product's print area was updated. Open it in Saved Products and save it once, then ask Claude again.
"An order can have up to 20 items". Split the order in two.
Artwork for a saved product was refused
The link is not a file. It must be a public https link that ends at the PNG itself. Google Drive, Dropbox and Canva share pages do not work.
Not a PNG, or too big. Only PNG files up to 25 MB are accepted.
Too small to print sharply. The picture must give at least 250 DPI at the printed size. Claude reports the printed size and DPI. Send a larger file, or ask for a smaller print.
Tracking did not reach my store
Store connected to Merch Factory (Shopify, WooCommerce, Wix). Merch Factory updates the store itself when the order ships. If it did not, open the order in Merch Factory and check the tracking is there, then check the store connection on its Integrations page.
Other stores. Ask Claude: "Sync tracking for my Merch Factory orders." Merch Factory does not write into those stores by itself.
Start over cleanly
On Integrations → Claude press Disconnect next to the connected app, remove the Merch Factory connector in Claude (Customize → Connectors), add it again with the address from the Claude page and approve it. Your drafts, limits and orders stay as they are.
